Called to the Nations: Alejandra Cantillo’s Story
🏠 From Santa Marta to Canada
I was born and raised in Santa Marta, Colombia, to a religious family that believed in God but didn’t know Him personally. At age 15, my life changed when my family moved to Canada. We tried to keep our faith, but something was missing — His presence.
✝️ Encountering God at 16
Through the help of friends, I found NewVida Church, and for the first time, I felt the true presence of God. At 16, I gave my life to Christ, got baptized, and began serving any way I could. It was the beginning of a real relationship with Jesus.
🌑 A Season of Silence
Like many, I hit a low point. I stopped going to church for a while and hid how I was doing. But deep inside, I knew — only God could help me.
🔥 A Mission Awakens
At a Foursquare Convention, I heard from missionaries and felt a clear call: “This is what you’re meant to be part of.” It wasn’t just emotion — it was God’s voice calling me into missions.
📚 Training and Trusting
I began studying Police Foundations at Niagara College while enrolled in ABI Canada (Angelus Bible Institute) to prepare spiritually. I became a Mission Mobilizer, helping connect my church with other Foursquare churches and coordinating support for an outreach in Venezuela.
✈️ The Call to Costa Rica
At another Foursquare Convention, I reconnected with missionaries who shared a need in Costa Rica. I had just finished college, and when they asked, “Would you like to come with us?” — I said yes! -not knowing all the details, but knowing God was in it.
💛 A Heart for Missions
What began as a whisper in my heart became a life mission. I didn’t always know where I was going, but God ordered every step. Now, I walk in faith — ready to go wherever He leads.
